Gigi Hadid Debuts a Chic Flipped-Out Bob
The model was seen with her hair styled into a chic '60s-style bob.
Gigi Hadid's bob made quite a splash in New York City yesterday, as it had only been a week since we saw her golden waistline-length locks on the catwalk for Chanel and Miu Miu. The model has experimented with shorter hairstyles in the past, but this sudden chop is quite a welcome change, which she debuted via Instagram a few days ago. Hadid is among the many celebs to make a recent drastic hairstyle change,including Sydney Sweeney, who also opted for a bob, and Zendaya, who recently showed off her mini bangs during Haute Couture Fashion Week in Paris.
"Flippy ends have had a real resurgence," Larry King, one of London’s leading hairstylists, told Harper's Bazaar UK last year. "It works well with anything from jaw-to-shoulder-length and doesn’t take on the huge commitment of a different cut; it's just a simple styling trick that can change things up to look really new.”
This '60s hair resurgence isn’t just showing up in the form of these fashionably styled bobs, but also in hairdos like the bouffant hairstyle seen on Miley Cyrus during her 2024 Grammy's performance. Cyrus's new music video for "Doctor (Work It Out)" has also made hair headlines. The hairstyle worn by Anya Taylor Joy in The Queen's Gambit is also reminiscent of the retro bobs we've been seeing lately. However, unlike the hair channeled in the hit miniseries, King says the modern rendition of this hairstyle has a "smoothed-down finish and just a little lift at the crown.”
On Thursday, Hadid was photographed wearing a sophisticated monochrome ensemble along with the bob. Her attire featured a timeless black blazer paired with a matching sweatshirt, leggings, and loafers, with the added accent of white peeking through in the form of ankle socks. Completing her look, she accessorized with staple sunglasses and carried a sleek black handbag.
