A Complete Timeline of Tom Holland and Zendaya’s Relationship

The past few years have been glorious for Spider-Man fans and supporters of Tom Holland and Zendaya's relationship. From the various cameos in the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home movie (including previous Spideys Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, no matter how many times he denies his involvement), to the confirmation of film stars Tom Holland and Zendaya finally entering a semi-public relationship four years after the release of Spider-Man: Homecoming, fans have been continuously well-fed with content in the form of paparazzi photos, Instagram comments, and cheeky interview moments. 

Over the past few years, Tom Holland and Zendaya’s chemistry both on and off-screen has been a constant through the latest Spider-Man films. Through press tours, interviews, and online interactions with fans, the duo spent years denying dating allegations, maintaining that they’re just friends, only for the ruse to finally come to an end in 2021. Following in the footsteps of Tobey Maguire/Kirsten Dunst and Andrew Garfield/Emma Stone, it appears that Tomdaya is the latest addition to the Spider-Man co-star to couple pipeline. Rumors started to surface that the Spider-Man: Homecoming stars are dating. A source said to People, “They started seeing each other while they were filming Spider-Man. They’ve been super careful to keep it private and out of the public eye but they’ve gone on vacations with each other and try and spend as much time as possible with one another.”

Another insider added, “They’re both really ambitious and they challenge each other — but, most importantly, they make each other crack up. They seem to have a really similar sense of humor and love joking around together. They have great banter back and forth.”

Of course, the pair were quick to shut down these rumors, even poking fun at the vacation quote on Twitter.

Zendaya continued to deny romance rumors when speaking to Variety about her relationship with Holland. "We are friends," she said. "He's a great dude. He's literally one of my best friends. This past how many months, we've had to do press tours together. There's very few people that will understand what that's like at 20 years old."

For Zendaya’s 21st birthday, Holland posted a pair of photos from behind the scenes of a Spider-Man: Homecoming photoshoot, captioning it, “Thinking about how to get taller 😂  Happy birthday mate. Miss you and I’ll have a drink for you. #21stbirthday.” 

Zendaya commented back, “Hahahah thanks shawty❤️.”

Fans also tweeted at Zendaya, asking her whether or not Holland’s tag was intentional and if it was a confirmation of anything, to which Z responded that he’s just “Instagram stupid.”

Tomdaya fans were left heartbroken after dating rumors between Zendaya and her Euphoria co-star Jacob Elordi began to surface after the pair were seen vacationing together in Greece. In February 2020, paparazzi photos emerged of the two strolling the streets of New York City and kissing, completely shutting down the prospect of a potential Holland and Zendaya romance. However, the Euphoria romance appeared to be short-lived, as Elordi and Zendaya seemingly plit up months later in September 2020, given that the actor was spotted getting dinner with model Kaia Gerber, whom he dated for over a year, until they broke up in November 2021. 

After months of speculation, Holland confirmed his relationship with actress Nadia Parkes in an Instagram post of her. According to the Daily Mail, Parkes moved in with Holland during the pandemic and was isolating with him, his brother, and a friend in London as the city went into lockdown. 

"They made the decision to isolate together, and things have been going great between them," a source said. "Tom has told friends and family they're in an official relationship and living together so soon into their romance has only made them stronger."

As of July 2021, Holland and Parkes separated. Details regarding the couple's separation have not been made public. In a several paparazzi photos by PageSix, the actor is spotted locking lips with Zendaya at a stoplight in Los Angeles, which seemingly confirmed their relationship. The photos immediately went viral, prompting fans to celebrate the beginnings of an off-screen Tomdaya romance.

Later that month, US Weekly reported that their relationship is apparently going well, as “they both challenge each other and balance each other out.” The source also added that Zendaya has been guiding Holland “through the world of the celebrity” and has provided him with a helping hand given her long-time practice with navigating fame.

Later that month, Zendaya posted photos of her legendary Balmain dress from the Venice Film Festival, to which Holland commented three fire emojis in response. The once secretive pair has started to open up a little bit more on social media when it comes to showing affection.

To celebrate the opening of Dune, Holland posted an image of his beautiful girlfriend on the red carpet to help promote her film. He captioned the photo with heart-eyes emoji, to which Zendaya replied simply with, “🥺.”

In an August interview with Elle, Zendaya explained the importance of privacy in maintaining a relationship and her struggle with accepting the scope of her influence. “Parts of my life, I accept, are going to be public,” the Challengers actress said. “I can’t not be a person and live my life and love the person I love. But also, I do have control over what I choose to share. It’s about protecting the peace and letting things be your own but also not being afraid to exist. You can’t hide. That’s not fun, either. I am navigating it more than ever now.”

In September 2023, Zendaya and Holland were spotted walking hand in hand on their way to Beyoncé's Los Angeles Renaissance show, which turned out to be a celeb-studded affair—remember Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner's relationship debut?—especially given that the night in question was Beyoncé's birthday. 

 Never one to turn down a chance to shine, Zendaya sported a shimmery rhinestone blazer, complete with a matching top and skirt, while Holland wore a sleek leather jacket over a chic all-black outfit. During the show, Zendaya also got a surprise on-stage shoutout from Queen Bey herself—not a bad night to be Zendaya, as far as we're concerned. 

When asked which Dune: Part Two cast member had the most 'rizz,' a term for romantic or flirtatious charisma, Zendaya instantaneously responded "Me, hello?" her quintessential dry humor coming out, before saying "I think someone who has beautiful charisma, not on the Dune cast, but I personally, it works for me, is Mr. Tom Holland."

Although the couple are notoriously private, they seem to have become increasingly more comfortable discussing one another in public over time, especially in interviews throughout 2023 and 2024, where the two have moved beyond sly hints and shy comments. 

In March of 2024, Holland and Zendaya were photographed together at the BNP Paribas Open in California, laughing and talking with one another as the match progressed. At the event, Holland donned a chocolate brown collared cardigan, which he wore open with a plain white t-shirt, and finished the look with red-tinted sunglasses. To his right, Zendaya sported a tennis-inspired Tashi Duncan look reminiscent of her Challengers character.

At one point between plays, Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" played, prompting the couple to sing along, a moment that fans went wild over online. Some fans compared it to the sweet moment shared between the couple at a Beyoncé in 2023, where Zendaya and Holland were also seen singing with one another, noting the couple's endearing penchant for spontaneous karaoke. 

On May 23, Zendaya showed her support for boyfriend Tom Holland as the two were spotted leaving the press night for Holland’s Romeo and Juliet at The Duke of York’s Theatre in London.

On October 24, Zendaya stepped out with Tom Holland to celebrate the launch of his non-alcoholic beer brand, Bero. She donned a burgundy Louis Vuitton dress that perfectly complemented his outfit. The pair were seen holding hands as they left the event.

Zendaya and Tom Holland took their relationship to the next level to kick off the new year. At the 2025 Golden Globes, Zendaya sent the internet into a frenzy when she appeared on the red carpet wearing a large diamond ring on her ring finger. After a night of subtle hints from Zendaya, who was dressed in an apricot-hued Louis Vuitton gown, TMZ confirmed that the couple is officially engaged Monday afternoon.
