Lana Del Rey Drops "Venice Bitch" and Reveals New Album Title
Following the release of her single, "Mariners Apartment Complex," the legendary sad-girl singer has returned with a 9-minute follow-up track, titled "Venice Bitch." Marking the second single off of her upcoming album slated for 2019, the new single boasts the crooner's signature wispy vocals in full force, accompanied by the melancholy strumming of an acoustic and electric guitar. Along with the single, a music video was released as well—largely comprised of film shots of suburbia, the video captures a sense of simple nostalgia through its faded colors and Americana motifs which have become nearly synonymous with the singer's iconography.
In addition to the release of "Venice Bitch", Lana spoke with radio DJ Zane Lowe on Apple Music's Beats 1 and revealed the name of her upcoming album. Titled, "Norman Fucking Rockwell", the album is being produced by Jack Antonoff of The Bleachers, who has helped produce records for artists including Taylor Swift, St. Vincent, and Lorde.
"Working with Jack [Antonoff], I was in a little bit of a lighter mood because he was so funny. So the title track is called “Norman Fucking Rockwell,” and it’s kind of about this guy who is such a genius artist but he thinks he’s the shit and he knows it and he won’t shut up talking about it," Lana said. "So often I ended up with these creative types or whatever and, you know, they just go on and on about themselves, and I’m like, Yeah, yeah. But there’s a little bit of merit to it also. They are so good. I just like the title track so much that I was like, OK, I definitely want the record to also be called that."
While a solid release date for the project has yet to be announced, if the first two singles are an accurate sampling of the record, we absolutely can't wait for it to grace our eardrums.
