The queen is back! It's been four years since Lady Gaga released her last studio album, Chromatica, and three years since her unforgettable collaborative studio album with the late Tony Bennett, Love For Sale. For fans, whether die-hard or casual, the wait for new music from a pop icon like Lady Gaga has been far too long. But thankfully, she has officially confirmed that her sixth studio album is currently in the works.

At the Los Angeles premiere of her concert film, Gaga Chromatica Ball, on May 23, 2024, the star shared the exciting news, revealing her relentless dedication to the studio these past few months. During a Q&A, Gaga noted that she had been "in the studio every single day." You know what that means: her highly anticipated comeback album is on its way to us! “I have written so many songs, I’ve been producing so many songs, and it’s nothing like anything that I’ve ever made before," Gaga added.

So, in honor of the Haus Labs' founder and pop icon's return to the music scene, L'OFFICIEL runs down everything we know so far about Lady Gaga's forthcoming album.

Genre

Not a lot is currently known about Gaga's upcoming album. However, on Valentine's Day this year, Gaga shared a glimpse into her creative process with a photo of herself from the studio, clutching a guitar. "No I'm not making a rock album," she captioned the post.

Then, at the Gaga Chromatica Ball premiere on May 23, 2024, Lady Gaga also noted that she loves "to break genre and I love to explore music. There’s something really beautiful about knowing that you will be loved no matter what you do." So, it seems safe to say that the "Bad Romance" singer is staying true to her word, and her new music will be exploring different genres. Will it be a fusion of pop, rock, and electronica? Only time will tell.

Collaborations & Features

Ever since Gaga revealed she was working on new music a couple of months ago, fans have been speculating that the new album would feature a "Telephone" sequel with Queen Bey. Though the rumors have been unfounded, Gaga mentioned that, "When Beyoncé calls, I'd like to pick up the phone." So, while that isn't exactly a confirmation, it sure isn't a denial, either. Since then, this playful hint has only fueled the excitement and anticipation surrounding her upcoming release, leaving fans eagerly awaiting any confirmation of potential collaborations and the diverse musical directions Gaga might take.

Fans have speculated on social media that Gaga's next album may also include collaborations with Canadian singer-songwriter The Weeknd, French DJ Gesaffelstein, South Korean DJ and singer Peggy Gou and alternative pop artist Caroline Polachek. Nothing has been officially confirmed yet, but excitement is building with rumors that she might team up with many of her fans' other favorite artists.

In Peggy Gou's April interview with L'OFFICIEL, she said, "When it comes to fashion, I like to wear everything. When it comes to music I like, I listen to every genre; I select things, the sounds that I like, and I put it all together and it becomes my thing. I don't want to put a label on it." This sentiment is shared by Gaga in her ever-changing approach to her musical career, so a potential collaboration between the artists would certainly work well.

Release

Neither Gaga nor her manager, Bobby Campbell, has mentioned the exact release date for Gaga's forthcoming music. However, given that the star has constantly been in the studio working on her new album for the last couple of months, it seems safe to say that we can expect it to be released in 2025, or 2026 at the latest.

Especially with the return of Gaga's "Lady Gaga Jazz & Piano" residency in Las Vegas, fans are hopeful that they will hear an announcement about new music soon.

"I have been working on my new music all the time, and I truly live and breathe it. I just can't wait to give it to the fans," Gaga told Entertainment Tonight. "They hate when I say, 'Soon,' but soon," she concluded.
