Even Lady Gaga is Hopping on the Cowgirl Fashion Aesthetic
The Mother Monster shows off her Western fashion flair at the Saturday Night Live afterparty.
Since Lady Gaga's rise to stardom in the mid-2000s, while her immense impact on the music world remains unquestionable, for fashion lovers her dynamic sense of style will forever go down in the fashion history books. For the sake of time, we'll spare going down the fashion history lane, though it's worth noting Gaga has nearly touched on every type of style and aesthetic on the list. From goth to glam to mod to preppy to avant-garde, you never know what to expect when it comes to her outfits.
Years later since coming into the spotlight, she still remains a fashion force — as proven by her latest appearance. While stepping out with boyfriend Michael Polanskyat for the Saturday Night Live afterparty (in which she had a surprise cameo on the show introducing Bad Bunny's first musical performance of the night), Gaga went goth western wearing a black cowgirl jacket adorned with crystal fringe. She paired the garment with black leggings, her signature gravity-defying ankle boots, and black shades.
Her beauty leaned more into the goth-ness of it all, going for a dark lip, black nails, and her blonde hair pulled back into a bun. This look comes after a string of fashion serves over the past few days.
On Thursday night, Gaga went full Mick Jagger sporting a one-sleeve sequined jumpsuit color-blocked into two parts, with one side fully black and the other red patterned. Dare we call this Harley Quinn-coded? (Especially since she is set to play the character in the upcoming Joker 2: Folie à Deux movie). She accessorized with a black embroidered necktie and silver pendant chains. As for glam, she wen;t for a smoky eye, black nails, and a '70s shag hairstyle.
The outfit was a fitting choice given the occasion since she took to the stage performing with Jagger at the Rolling Stones’ Hackney Diamonds album release party.
But the looks didn't stop there. The night prior Gaga went a bit more refined while spotted at the Electric Lady Studios. She walked in while photographed in head-to-toe Celine, sporting an embellished pinstripe blazer, gathered mini dress, and slouchy knee-high boots.
Hours later, she emerged with a quick change (also Celine), this time opting for a boxy shawl collar jacket, black bustier, hot pants, and the same slouchy knee-high boots.
Is this perhaps the sign a Gaga fashion renaissance is upon us? Only time will tell, but there are hints that Gaga is entering a new music era. She has been working with Jagger on new music, which he briefly talked about during an interview on the red carpet.
"We were doing this song that I wrote on the piano, and she was in the next door studio," Jagger said. "She said, ‘Can I come down?’ and she came down and she joined in and we sung together and we went in the next day and tidied up a few things up."
