Doja Cat Says She's Quitting Music Over Backlash From Canceled Set
The Planet Her singer shares frustrations regarding her career and fans on social media after her performance at Asunciónico 2022 was canceled.
In a series of heated tweets, Doja Cat told fans on Thursday night that she quits music after backlash from her canceled set at Asunciónico 2022. The festival was set to be held in Paraguay this weekend, but due to a lightning storm and inclement weather, the festival was canceled.
Fans who were set the attend the festival took their frustration out on the Planet Her singer because of her silence regarding the situation. After tweeting about her performance in Brazil, fans tweeted at the singer saying things like "what happened to your humilty?" and calling her Public Enemy #1. Doja Cat responded saying that she wasn't sorry. "I don’t give a fuck anymore i fuckin quit i can’t wait to fucking disappear and i don’t need you to believe in me anymore."
The singer went on to say that she was done taking pictures with fans after her tour, that music is dead to her, and that she was a "fool for ever thinking i was made for this this is a fucking nightmare unfollow me."
Alongside Doja Cat, Machine Gun Kelly and Miley Cyrus were set to perform at the festival. Cyrus' flight to Paraguay had to have an emergency landing after getting caught in a lightning storm. The singer shared videos from the flight on Instagram and shared that it was not safe for her and her crew to travel, therefore they would not be at the festival.
Now fans are concerned about what the future for the musician will hold after this series of statements. Doja Cat is set to open for The Weeknd on his upcoming tour, After Hours Til Dawn. The tour is set to start in Toronto in July, and Doja's leg will wrap in September. Fans will have to wait and see what the singer does next, or if this is really the end of Doja Cat.
