Get a First Look at Timothée Chalamet in New 'Wonka' Trailer
Timothée Chalamet shines as the eccentric young Willy Wonka in the newly released trailer.
Timothée Chalamet may only be 27 years old, but he's already proved that there's no role he can't do. Adding a page to his acting book is his role as young Willy Wonka in the upcoming film Wonka, in which the first official trailer has just been released.
Set many years before the events of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Wonka follows young Wonka's early adventures such as meeting the Oompa-Loompas, his initial dream of owning a whimsical chocolate factory, and showing his beginnings of becoming the world's most-beloved chocolatier.
His taking of the role officially has him following in the footsteps of Johnny Depp and Gene Wilder who have priorly played the role, though Chalamet is certain to give his own spin on the character.
And if you thought it couldn't get any better than seeing Chalamet in a top hat...wait for it...the world will finally get to witness him in his singing and dancing persona. (Enter, every viral TikTok video of him dancing and rapping in his high school days.) In the trailer, we see a quick clip of Chalamet in a group dance number, dancing away with a cane — inevitably ushering in a new slew of viral Chalamet dance content sure to circle the internet.
Other cast members include Hugh Grant, Rowan Atkinson, Olivia Colman, Keegan-Michael Key, Rakhee Thakrar, Sally Hawkins, Matt Lucas, and Calah Lane. As for the release date, Wonka is set to hit theatres on December 15, 2023 — the world's best pre-Christmas gift.
That said, we've made you wait enough. Below, get a first look at Chalamet as young Wonka in the new Wonka trailer.
