Get All the Must-Know Details About 'Succession' Season 4
The Roy family is coming back to HBO for a fourth season, here's everything we know so far.
HBO Max finally released their much-anticipated trailer for Season 4 of Succession. After winning Best Drama Series at the 2022 Emmys, Succession's upcoming fourth season is on everybody's mind. The dramatic Season 3 finale left fans wondering what the future holds for Waystar Royco and the entire Roy family. The fourth season started filming at the end of June, with the official premiere date of the new season on March 26. Adding to the anticipation, it was also confirmed that the fourth season will be the last one—meaning the expectations for the upcoming season have only risen. Here's everything we know about the future of the Roy family and their legacy.
Plot
HBO did release a logline for the fourth season. It reads: "The sale of media conglomerate Waystar Royco to tech visionary Lukas Matsson moves ever closer. The prospect of this seismic sale provokes existential angst and familial division among the Roys as they anticipate what their lives will look like once the deal is completed. A power struggle ensues as the family weighs up a future where their cultural and political weight is severely curtailed.” So we can definitely expect even more tension amongst the Roys.
And according to the rumor mill, there might be wedding bells in Connor's (Ruck) and Willa Ferreyra's (Justine Lupe-Schomp) future. According to an Instagram story from Deuxmoi, a celebrity sighting and gossip account—think a modern-day Gossip Girl—the two tie the knot, or at least appear to. In two photos, fans can see banners and photos, with one reading, "Welcome to our wedding."
As of January 2023, the cast continued to be seen filming throughout NYC. In an unexpected twist of events, there may be a funeral underway for the Roy clan. Many of the actors were spotted in black attire appearing very solemn, most likely due to a mysterious death. We'll have to wait until the release to find out more.
Cast
The main cast, Brian Cox (Logan Roy), Jeremey Strong (Kendall Roy), Sarah Snook (Shiv Roy), and Kieran Culkin (Roman Roy) will be returning with the fan-favorite regulars of Nicholas Braun (Cousin Greg), Matthew Macfadyen (Tom Wambsgans), J. Smith Cameron (Gerri Kellman), and Alan Ruck (Connor Roy). Some additions returning from the previous season include Dagmara Domińczyk (Karolina Novotney), Alexander Skarsgård (Lukas Mattson), Arian Moayed (Stewy), Juliana Canfield (Jess Jordan), and Annabelle Dexter-Jones (Naomi Pierce). Other returning cast members include Justin Kirk, Cherry Jones, Hope Davis, and Stephen Root.
The show has already confirmed new cast members adding to the lineup including Eili Harboe, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Annabeth Gish, and Adam Godley.
Production
Earlier this year, fans had spotted the cast and crew filming on location in New York City and shared glimpses through TikTok and Twitter. As of October, the cast went international and was revealed to be shooting scenes in Norway. HBO has also announced that Succession Season 4 will be 10 episodes, just like the first two seasons.
