The girls are back. The hit HBO Max comedy series The Sex Lives of College Girls is returning to the streaming service with a new season. The show premiered in November of last year with a weekly airing schedule. HBO later announced in December that the series would return for a Season 2. Fans have been buzzing for weeks due to the cast posting on social media during filming. Series stars Reneé Rapp, Alyah Chanelle Scott, Pauline Chalamet, and Amrit Kaur have kept us entertained with their onset TikToks. For awhile, any details about the new season has been kept under wraps. However, a brand new trailer has just been released along with the announcement of the premiere date. Here is what we know about the upcoming season so far.

Release Date

The show's release date has been announced and will be returning to HBO Max on November 17, 2022. Filming for the upcoming season back earlier this year and seemed to wrap up this fall. Just like the first season, HBO Max will drop the first two episodes with weekly episodes airing every Thursday.

Cast

Most of the main cast is returning to the show, as well as other supporting characters who kept us laughing, like Lila and Canaan. However, it was announced earlier in the year that Gavin Leatherwood, who played Leighton's brother Nico, would not be returning for Season 2. Leatherwood told UsWeekly about his decision to depart from the show.

"It was such an incredible experience. I think Mindy is brilliant and the cast, everyone’s lovely... But with so many amazing opportunities out there, we want to keep spreading our wings and leading ourselves to other projects so that’s the move."

But don't fret—someone new is joining the cast. Make room for Charlie Hall, Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ son. Deadline recently announced that Hall would be joining the SLOCG world and would be playing an Essex student named Andrew. While not much else is known about his character, if he's as funny as his mom, he'll be sure to have viewers cackling. In addition, Mitchell Slaggart and Ozark star Spencer Neville will also join in recurring roles, so this season will have no shortage of hot new potential love interests for our favorite college roommates.

What to Expect

The comedy series appears to start where we last left off with the Essex crew. Kimberly, who is played by Chalamet, lost her scholarship due to cheating on her final exam. Throughout the series, she struggled to fit in at Essex due to the campus' lavish nature and its students. Chalamet's character also had a complicated romance with Leighton's brother Nico. Since Leatherwood's departure, viewers are curious to see how the relationship is tackled in the new season.

Characters Leighton and Bela are also trying to stay afloat at the end of last season. Leighton, who is played by Rapp, is struggling with finding out who she is and her sexuality. Bela, who is played by Kaur, is figuring out her next steps after quitting the comedy club on campus. The final character of the group, Whitney, who is played by Scott, ends the season on a good note despite having a rocky semester.

Based on the trailer, we are sure to experience 10 episodes of raunchiness and laughs. From a sex-positive "Striptacular" to awkward near-naked run-ins in the hallway, no one can ever truly predict what this show will entail—which is what makes it so great.
