Olivia Wilde Praises Boyfriend Harry Styles as 'Don't Worry Darling' Filming Wraps

Harry Styles' new film, directed by girlfriend Olivia Wilde, is set to premiere later this year.

Just over a month since their relationship reveal, Olivia Wilde pays tribute to Harry Styles for his acting abilities on the set of their new project Don't Worry Darling as filming concludes. On Monday, the director posted a black and white photo of Styles inside a vintage car, in character, while on set. In the caption, she opened up about the struggle to cast supporting roles in female-centric films because of the entertainment industry's culture of male-dominated and -driven storylines.

"Little known fact: most male actors don’t want to play supporting roles in female-led films," says Wilde on the post. "The industry has raised them to believe it lessens their power (i.e financial value) to accept these roles, which is one of the reasons it’s so hard to get financing for movies focusing on female stories. No joke, it is harrrrrd to find actors who recognize why it might be worth it to allow for a woman to hold the spotlight."

She continues, "Enter: @harrystyles, our [“Jack.”] Not only did he relish the opportunity to allow for the brilliant @florencepugh to hold center stage as our [“Alice,”] but he infused every scene with a nuanced sense of humanity. He didn’t have to join our circus, but he jumped on board with humility and grace, and blew us away every day with his talent, warmth, and ability to drive backwards."

Don't Worry Darling stars Florence Pugh alongside Styles as Alice and Jack, a 1950s married couple hiding some troubling secrets. Originally, actor Shia LaBeouf was given the role of Jack, however, Wilde fired him after he broke her "no assholes policy." Filming began in late October 2020. The movie will also include Chris Pine, Gemma Chan, KiKi Layne, and comedians Nick Kroll and Asif Ali.

Ali shared a photo of himself and some of the cast on Instagram to commemorate the end of filming. He wrote in the caption, "GIGANTIC congratulations to EVERYONE involved in making this beautiful film during these very trying times. I’m so happy I got to learn, play, and build with these shiny gems. I wish I took more pics but I didn’t want to get fired lol. DONT WORRY DARLING is coming!!"
