Lady Gaga Pays Homage to Italy as 'House of Gucci' Wraps Filming
Lady Gaga finishes filming the upcoming Ridley Scott-directed movie 'House of Gucci' and bids adieu to Italy with a heart-warming gesture.
The Ridley Scott film House of Gucci just finished filming in Italy. The movie, adapted from the book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed, centers on the life and murder of Maurizio Gucci, who was killed in Milan on March 27, 1995 by a hitman. Lady Gaga plays Patrizia Reggiani, Maurizio Gucci's wife and instigator of the murder.
Now that filming in Rome is done, Lady Gaga heads back to the states. Saying goodbye, the star greeted Italy and her fans with a special gift. While leaving her hotel, Gaga placed a vase of yellow tulips on Rome's cobblestones before leaving the city. Gaga has personal ties to Italy and its Sicilian origins. Her great-grandfather, Antonino Germanotta, was originally from Naso, Sicily.\
Filming for the movie began in late February. Among the locations chosen for House of Gucci are Valle d'Aosta, Milan, Lake Como, and Rome. Paying homage to the country, Gaga posted a heartfelt tweet as she departed, which read:
I would like to thank all of Italy for supporting me during the shooting of the film: I hug you and kiss you, I believe in you, I pray for my homeland, a country built on the promise of hard work and on family. I hope I have made you proud. I am proud to be Italian.
