The Controversy Behind Lady Gaga's Role in “House of Gucci"
Patrizia Reggiani is not happy with Lady Gaga's portrayal of her in the upcoming Ridley Scott drama "House of Gucci."
While the filming of House of Gucci has not yet finished, the production is already giving us something to talk about! In the upcoming crime feature directed by Ridley Scott, Lady Gaga portrays Patrizia Reggiani, who is sentenced to prision for the murder of her ex-husband and former head of the Italian fashion house Maurizio Gucci in 1995. The real Italian socialite, however, is not happy with the way the "Rain on Me" singer is representing her today, and has criticized Gaga heavily.
"I'm annoyed by the fact that Lady Gaga is portraying me in the new Ridley Scott film without even having the courtesy or the good sense to come and meet me," Reggiani told Italian news agency Ansa. "It's nothing to do with money because I won't be taking a single cent from the film. It's about common sense and respect." In addition to Lady Gaga, the film features a star-studded cast, including Adam Driver, L'OFFICIEL star Jared Leto, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and more.
Reggiani went on to say that every good actor must first know the character he or she is going to represent. "I think it is not right that I wasn't contacted," she said. "And I say this with all the sympathy and appreciation that I have for her."
In 1998, Reggiani was convicted for orchestrating the assassination of her former ex-husband, and was released from prison in 2016 for good behavior.
