Our favorite American in Paris is back for saison trois.

In September 2022, Netflix's Tudum event offered Emily in Paris fans the official release date and a sneak peek of what some of our favorite characters are up to in Season 3. (Spoiler: Looks like our girl Emily is getting a new haircut.) After two successful seasons—and confirmation for a fourth—Season 3 of Emily in Paris is sure to be a delightful watch.

Following a marketer from Chicago who moves to Paris for her job, Emily Cooper takes us on a journey of self-discovery while juggling friendships, a (messy) love life, and just simply trying to enjoy her time in Europe. Add in some statement fashion choices, delicious-looking French cuisine, and the drama of working in the luxury market, and it’s clear why the show is as popular as it is.

Now, Netflix has dropped an official trailer with a glimpse of all the shenanigans Emily will be getting herself into this season. To know more about what’s to come, here’s everything we know about the show so far.

The Cast

The star of the show, Lily Collins, is set to return for Season 3. Collins’ portrayal of Emily is unmatched and she truly is the main character in every situation she’s in. Additional returning members are Ashley Park as Mindy, Lucas Bravo as Gabriel, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu as Sylvie, Samuel Arnold as Julien, Camille Razat as Camille, and Bruno Gouery as Luc.

British heartthrob and Emily’s somewhat love interest Alfie, played by Lucien Laviscount, has been promoted to a series regular by showrunner Darren Star, so viewers will get to see a lot more of him in the upcoming season.

In October 2022, Netflix also confirmed two new guest stars: Paul Forman as Nicolas de Leon and Melia Kreiling plays Sofia Sideris.

Season 3 is set to premiere on December 21, 2022. After the release of the second season in late December of 2021, the third season did not start filming until early June 2022. Filming officially wrapped up in late September, at which point Collins posted on her Instagram about her excitement for the new season and thanking everyone involved.

“Words can’t express how many emotions I feel when I finish each Emily In Paris season and this year is no different,” she wrote. “We truly have the best, most dedicated crew there is and a cast I can call a family. Thank you for supporting, uplifting, and encouraging endlessly and working tirelessly to make it all happen. I can’t wait to share what we’ve created. Proud doesn’t even do it justice. Je vous aime tous!”

The Plot

Season 2 ended with a suspenseful cliffhanger where Emily was left with having to make a potentially life-changing decision. She has to decide if she wants to go back to Chicago leaving all her French drama behind her, accept a newly offered position at Sylvie’s upcoming company where she may also burn bridges with her boss Madeline, or say no to both propositions and create a path of her own.

At the end of the final episode, Emily speaks to Sylvie saying that she’s made her decision, with the scene suddenly going to black. Season 3 is sure to pick up from the ending moment and we will know once and for all what Emily decides to do along with the effects of that decision.

According to the newly released trailer, Emily tries to pull double duty by working for them both, which we can only assume turns out to be a mess.

Additionally, we may finally witness how Emily plans to maneuver her complicated love life. Last we saw, Emily was caught in quite the love triangle with Alfie and Gabriel. On one hand, there is the dreamy British banker who made it clear to Emily that he’s ready to take the next steps in their relationship and wants to make it work between them.

On the other hand is the attractive French chef who seems to have Emily’s heart but just got back into a relationship with Camille, one of Emilly’s closest friends. While Emily currently may not feel as strongly for Alfie as he does for her, the unexpected reunion of Camille and Gabriel may just be what Emily needs to push her in the right romantic direction. And from the trailer, it seems like Season 3 features a number of cute dates with Emily and Alfie. Does this mean Emily has finally made a decision? Je ne sais pas.

Along the way of all this we are sure to watch Emily make more questionable fashion decisions, navigate that work/life balance, and hopefully finally learn how to speak French.

While attending the Ralph Lauren Spring/Summer 2023 fashion show, Collins spoke to Entertainment Tonight about what viewers can look forward to in Season 3. "More love triangles, more drama, more laughs, more fashion, more locations, more France!" She also teased that there will be "a lot of cliffhangers."
