Everything You Need To Know about Paramount Plus' Newest Horror Film ‘Apartment 7A'
The upcoming psychological thriller Apartment 7A is the prequel you never thought you needed.
As the weather gets cooler and the days get shorter, spooky season and new horror movies are just around the corner. This past year, we have seen a surplus of horror and psychological thrillers hit theaters and streaming services with recent favorites like Longlegs, Watchers, and most recently, The Deliverance. However, the newest one is a subtle prequel to the beloved cult classic, Rosemary's Baby.
Apartment 7A follows main character Terry Gionoffrio, portrayed by Netflix's Inventing Anna star and Golden Globe Winner Julia Garner. Terry, a young twenty-something hopeful dancer looking for fame, succumbs to an ankle injury and winds up in a vulnerable position. An older, wealthy couple promises her all the fame and fortune she could imagine. The couple then invites Terry into their home at the Bramford, an apartment building that may sound all too familiar to film lovers. Thus comes the nod to none other than the 1968 film, Rosemary's Baby.
The trailer for the upcoming film shows what appears to be a high-energy and heart-pumping psychological drama and horror film that gives a similar allure and fright to Rosemary's Baby.
Following the events leading up to what everyone knows to be the plot of Rosemary's Baby, we see Terry slowly coming close to her dreams of being a professional dancer in the big city, until things start to go awry in the apartment, and the old couple who she trusted seem to be hiding something sinister. Was Terry the first victim of what darkness lies in the Bramford?
Before Rosemary, there was Terry. Both women face the same horrors of what lurks within the Bramford, and apartment 7A. Directed by Japanese-Australian writer, director, and producer Natalie Erika James, Apartment 7A will be released on Paramount Plus on September 27.
With the release just a few weeks away, you have plenty of time to revisit Rosemary's Baby to get into the spooky mood.
