Dakota Johnson's Best Style Moments
Ahead of Dakota Johnson's new movie Madame Web—in theaters this Valentine's Day—L'OFFICIEL rounds up some of her best looks over the years.
Born in Austin, Texas, Dakota Johnson made her screen debut in the 1999 film Crazy Alabama, where she stars alongside her half-sister, Stella Banderas. Although the film didn’t have a huge success, Johnson decided to continue her acting career after graduating from high school, despite the advice of her celebrity parents Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith.
In 2010, she had her first box office hit with a minor role in the Oscar Award-winning film The Social Network. However, it wasn’t until her leading role as Anastasia Steele in the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy that the star gained international recognition. Appearing on red carpets at Met Galas and film premieres alike in anything from all-denim looks to sleek Gucci gowns, the world has witnessed plenty of chic Dakota Johnson style moments. Since her breakout role as Anastasia Steele, she's gone on to star in hit films like Suspiria, The Lost Daughter, and Persuasion, and is the lead in the upcoming Marvel film Madame Web on Feb. 14 starring alongside Sydney Sweeney.
Since her early days as an actress, the Gucci muse and L'OFFICIEL USA March 2024 cover star has been known to show unconventional sides of her style. To celebrate the highly anticipated movie Madame Web and her hosting gig for the January 27 episode of Saturday Night Live, L'OFFICIEL looks back at some of Johnson's best style moments.
