Versace Returns to the Runway For Men's Spring/Summer 2023 Show
The sons of '90s models Mark Vanderloo, Helena Christensen, Andre van Noord, Carla Bruni, Megan Douglas, and Angela Lindvall were all cast for the show.
Versace Home, the brand's interiors collection, hit the catwalk at the Versace Men Spring/Summer 2023 fashion show. Models walked carrying urns and vases or sported saucer-shaped earrings and cup belt designs. The classicism of prints flew between clothes and decor, where each piece became accessories, priceless relics, and clear manifestations of the Versace world. The colors of the collection were exceptionally bright, thanks to two-tone and neon striped dresses and metallic jackets, while orange, blue, and off-white blended in harmony for a total feeling of freshness.
Donatella Versace had been drawn to an archival print of ash-frozen masks from Pompeii after the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. This print was the starting point for a collection that combines simplicity and sensuality and recontextualizes the archive today. “When I work I think of Generation Z and the freedom they demonstrate in not being afraid to mix pieces so different from each other. Pop-art meets classicism: such a contrast is essential for me, it pushes you to think and feel," explained Versace.
Against these prints played the rigidly formal stripes of the regimental dresses, another disruptive code of this season. The leather print became a valid alternative to exotic leathers, while the leather models made of eco-sustainable latex testified to Versace's commitment to safeguarding the planet.
The Medusa Hobo Repeat bag, a hobo model from the Versace archive, was presented in a new XL format, wrapping around the shoulders. Footwear, bags, and accessories including formal metallic shoes, diamond-studded tote bags, and python-print leather models and golden headdresses were worn by the children of major faces for the Maison in the 1990s and 2000s like Mark Vanderloo, Helena Christensen, Andre van Noord, Carla Bruni, Megan Douglas, and Angela Lindvall.
