Brandon Maxwell Spring/Summer 2025 Flaunts Romantic Minimalism
Employing floaty fabrics, plenty of monochromatic moments, and asymmetric silhouettes, the New York-based label made a compelling case for the perennial allure of pared-back styles.
While a debate concerning the merits of maximalism versus minimalism has ravaged the fashion world in recent years, with primary concerns being micro-trends, personal expression, and wearability, Brandon Maxwell has made a compelling case for the timeless allure of minimalistic styles. Presenting the label's Spring/Summer 2025 collection, models strode down the runway in New York City clad in a series of breathtaking styles that adhered to a predominantly neutral-toned color palette, with eye-catching pops of color here and there, of course.
On the Brandon Maxwell runway, pared-back certainly didn't translate to plain—as seen in the multitudes of ruffled styles, asymmetric silhouettes, and elegant rhinestoned looks. Drop-waisted dresses, complete with floaty chiffon hems, atop pleated straight-leg trousers, and mock-neck tops paired with seemingly weightless blazers proved the power of a layered look that at its core, relied upon the simplicity of each individual component.
At first glance, audience members appeared shocked to see that models wore no shoes while conducting themselves down the catwalk, but upon closer inspection, they actually donned barely-there sandals, comprised of a transparent netted top adhered to a sleek, silver flat base, proving for an awe-inspiring visual effect that paired neatly with each and every look.
The effortlessly elegant aura of the Brandon Maxwell Spring/Summer 2025 collection continued in turned-up coat collars, buttoned-down henley neck tops, and pantless looks—presented in the form of sensationally sheer skirts and pared-back briefs alike.
Among the non-neutral hues to make an appearance within the collection were a series of metallic-centric looks. Belts, leather bags, hardware, and one particularly eye-catching textured dress all materialized in shades of silver, making each and every look feel a natural presence within the collection as a whole. Sunny yellow tones also made a prominent appearance within the collection, seen in a monochromatic top and skirt, as well as in the retro-inspired, yellow-tinted aviator sunglasses donned by more than a few of the models, heralding the continued reign of '90s minimalism for next season.
