Brandon Maxwell Revisits His Texas Childhood with MAC
Brandon Maxwell may have built his career on dressing supermodels like Karlie Kloss and Gigi Hadid in modern New York glamour, but he never forgets his Texas roots. The designer and L'Officiel USA contributor recently made his grandmother the star of his Fall 2018 campaign, and to celebrate his spring collection, which debuted September 8, he's teamed up with longtime collaborator MAC for a makeup capsule inspired by his home state.
The collection, which includes lip and eye products, references Maxwell's upbringing with every detail. Shades resemble Texas deserts and sunsets, the packaging features the state's outline around the designer's signature, and product names pay homage to loved ones. The Magic Mammaw eyeshadow honors his chic grandmother, and the two lip glosses, Kady's Kiss and Baby B, are named after his sisters.
Maxwell's show on Saturday featured a stunning palette to coordinate with the makeup collection, and models like Joan Smalls and Gigi Hadid were fresh-faced Texas girls for the night as they debuted the glowing eye and lip looks. Undoubtedly, Maxwell's collaboration with MAC brought the southern heat to New York Fashion Week, and the sentimental capsule is carrying summery nostalgia into September and beyond.
