Luxury New York Social Club SoHo House Opens New Location in Rome
In the Italian capital, Nick Jones, founder of Soho House, opens a new 10-story building with a spa, cinema, and unexpected views of urban Rome.
The doors of SoHo House Rome have opened. In the San Lorenzo area of Rome, a 1930s building has been renovated internally and externally by the SoHo House Design team. On the rooftop is a swimming pool and Cecconi's restaurant. Below, a 360-degree view of urban Rome unfurls.
The goal of Giorgia Tozzi, manager of Soho House Rome, is "to give guests a sense of home, combining the distinctive Soho House and the Italian lifestyle." To become a SoHo Friend, the social club offers memberships with annual rates that give access and discounts for booking rooms and services in common areas, the gym, the spa, restaurants, cinemas, and events. The property has 49 small to XXL-sized bedrooms and 20 long-stay apartments.
Upon entering SoHo House in Rome, on the ground floor near the reception we find the Studio, a creative space for members, designed for coworking and sitting at the bar. On the seventh and eighth floors, one finds the SoHo Health Club with changing and locker rooms, toilets, showers, a gym, and studio spaces dedicated to yoga, pilates, mindfulness, flexibility, and postural classes.
There are spaces dedicated to wellness, with therapeutic spas aimed at improving health through beauty treatments and massages, ozone therapy to fight bacteria and viruses, cryotherapy at -110 degrees, and the infrared sauna used specifically to burn calories and fat, but also to treat muscle contractures. Also on the eighth floor, we find the cinema room with 42 velvet armchairs and puffs, a space designed for adults and children (depending on which film is showing) as well as film premieres.
The rooms and bedrooms are furnished in the style of Italian vintage modernism, identified by the London team in the structure of the building. One cannot fail to notice the importance of art. A selection of works by Italian artists such as Gianni Politi, Silvia Giambrone, Claudio Verna, Elisa Montessori, Emiliano Maggi, Gabriele de Santis, Micol Assael, Ra di Martino, Marta Mancini, Manfredi GIoacchini, Andrea Martinucci, and Thomas Braida are owned by SoHo House and installed on site by London curator Kate Bryan.
Going up one floor, on the ninth we find the house kitchen with a SoHo House menu and Roman specialties. On the tenth, the Rooftop houses Cicconi's restaurant with its open kitchen, a pergola, and a swimming pool with burgundy tiles. Construction on the rooftop is scheduled for March 2022.
