Fashion Designers are Betting on Home Decor in 2021
There's no place like home. After a year spending more time indoors than ever, it's only natural to begin giving the same amount of attention to our home decor as we used to give our wardrobes. Even fashion designers are feeling the same, bringing their eye for aesthetics to homeware through various collaborations.
For example, Los Angeles-based label Rodarte has launched a collaboration with The Rug Company. Designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy, known for their romantic and embellished pieces, are bringing the party indoors with a collection of rugs that perfectly encapsulates the brand's couture-meets-California aesthetic.
"Our approach is personal, almost as if we are opening up to everyone our family history, our love of art and film, and our relationship to California,” the duo reveal on The Rug Company's website.
Rodarte isn't the ony brand to venture into home decor during this time of social isolation. Ready-to-wear designer Joseph Altuzarra collaborated with Etsy on a collection that spans sculptural stoneware vases, woven placemats, tie-dye throw pillows, and even a dog bed.
Additionally, last fall, designer Jonathan Cohen, known for his dresses, launched a stationary collection with Dempsey and Carroll. Inspired by his neighbor's gardens in San Diego, California, Cohen's cheery stationary is sure to put a spring in your step.
Each arrangement is illustrated by Cohen, giving your letters a personal touch.
