A Rocky Start to an Acting Career
Harris Dickinson studied film and theatre in school, but he dropped out when he was seventeen, nearly joining the Royal Marines instead of pursuing a career in theatre. After his coach persuaded him to try again, he continued learning at the RAW Academy in London. That decision led to his now strong career, after he was cast as Frankie in Beach Rats in 2016. This role led to his nomination for two major awards: the Gotham Independent Film Award for Breakthrough Actor and the Independent Spirit Award for Best Male Lead.
Where Else You Might Have Seen Harris Dickinson
Since then, he's taken on additional roles in well-known productions. You may have seen him in FX's Trust in 2018 or heard him voice The Dark Crystal's Gurjin. He also took on a movie role in The King's Man, the third Kingsman movie, where his portrayal of Conrad Oxford got him a BAFTA Film Award nomination. One of his most famous roles yet was just one year later, in 2022, as a co-star in Where the Crawdads Sing, playing Chase Andrews.
Most recently, Harris Dickinson has received attention for his portrayal of David Von Erich in The Iron Claw. This sports drama is all about the Von Erich family, a family of wrestlers who started the World Class Championship Wrestling company. Harris Dickinson had the role of the third-oldest son, and he's recently discussed the difficulty of trying to portray a famous athlete, especially a wrestler, in film.
Harris Dickinson recently made an appearance in the TV miniseries A Murder at the End of the World, further showcasing his range as an actor. Though this was a short series, Harris was able to portray and undeniably capture the complexity of his character with a depth and intensity that left a lasting impression on viewers. His ability to convey subtle emotions and bring layers of intrigue to his role highlights his talent for immersing himself fully in diverse characters, even within a limited timeframe. This performance adds another impressive facet to Dickinson's rapidly growing portfolio.
BabyGirl Premiere
Harris Dickinson made his appearance at the 81st Venice Film Festival alongside his castmates from BabyGirl, where the film received its highly anticipated premiere. In this project, Dickinson delivers a powerful performance that stands out, even among a cast that includes the legendary Nicole Kidman. His character plays a crucial role in the film's narrative, and his ability to convey a wide spectrum of emotions with subtlety and depth adds a compelling layer to the story. The premiere at Venice underscores Dickinson's rising prominence as a versatile actor capable of making a significant impact in high-caliber films.

Three were for his portrayal of Frankie in Beach Rats, which won him a London Film Critics Circle Award in 2018. In the following years, he was also nominated for BAFTA's EE Rising Star Award, the Best Joint Lead Performance (with Loal Campbell) from British Independent Film Awards, London Film Critics Circle's British/Irish Actor of the Year, and Best Support Actor from British Independent Film Awards. This year, he may win the BAFTA Television Award for Best Supporting Actor for his work in A Murder at the End of the World.
