This is not a joke.

Timothée Chalamet’s press tour for A Complete Unknown has been nothing short of a theatrical spectacle. Portraying a young Bob Dylan in the biopic, Chalamet has fully embraced the legendary musician’s iconic style—and enigmatic energy—during this media blitz. From channeling Dylan’s signature aesthetic on red carpets to engaging in a whirlwind of goofy interviews (see his talk with Nardwuar), Chalamet has gone all-in to embody the role, both on and off-screen. The actor’s latest stunt at the London premiere might be his most memorable yet.

It's not another internet-breaking, backless look by Haider Ackermann, and it's not about his clothes at all. Chalamet arrived on a brightly hued electric Lime Bike, forgoing a limousine for one of London's trustworthy and more sustainable modes of transportation. The actor making his grand entrance on a muddied bike alongside his glamorously dressed co-stars made for a silly image. He himself wore custom Martine Rose with Cartier jewelry, styled by Taylor McNeill.

At first glance, the Lime Bike entrance might seem like a random, humorous move on Chalamet's end. However, the moment may hold a deeper meaning for those familiar with Bob Dylan’s life. Dylan was famously involved in a near-fatal motorcycle crash in 1966, a pivotal moment that led him to retreat from public life and sparked countless theories about his career and personal transformation. Could Chalamet’s bike entrance be a subtle, safer nod to Dylan’s motorcycle days and the lore surrounding the crash?

Method dressing has been a dominant red carpet theme, and the actor could be taking it a step further. Chalamet has already proven his dedication to authenticity, studying Dylan’s mannerisms, voice, and fashion for over five years to bring the folk legend to life. It wouldn’t be a stretch to think that this playful yet symbolic entrance was another layer of his commitment to capturing Dylan’s essence.

Or, is Timothée Chalamet just being Timothée Chalamet? After all, he is, above all, dedicated to his own eccentricity.
