Everything We Know About Timothée Chalamet's 'A Complete Unknown'
Discover the first trailer for the new Timothée Chalamet movie, where he plays the legendary folk musician Bob Dylan.
Timothée Chalamet is a versatile actor who seems to play a completely different type of role in every new movie he stars in. Stellar performances as Paul Atreides in the sci-fi cinematic world of Dune and instant-classic musical numbers from Wonka have put his name on everybody’s lips. He’s explored horror in the movie Bones and All, and comedy in Lady Bird. His resumé speaks for itself, but the next movie he is set to star in is a new challenge of epic proportions.
Chalamet must transform into none other than Bob Dylan himself. The 27-year-old will be portraying the legendary folk/rock artist during his meteoric rise to fame in the early 1960s in a movie titled A Complete Unknown. He will be accompanied by Elle Fanning, who will play Bob Dylan’s girlfriend, and the pair have already been spotted together during the production of the movie, filming of which took place in New Jersey.
The movie is directed by James Mangold, the esteemed director behind Ford v. Ferrari, The Wolverine, and more. His history of working on a wide variety of different film genres bodes well for his part in this genre-bending biographical music drama.
The trailer opens with an introduction to Bob Dylan from folk music star Pete Seeger (played by Edward Norton) who describes him in vague terms, followed by the uplifting strings of Dylan’s “A Hard Rain’s A-gonna Fall.” As the music continues, we see a smorgasbord of New Jersey streets, electrifying Bob Dylan performances, and show-stopping romantic moments.
The song comes to a close as we see Dylan’s family at home listening to him play. After a pause, he says “that’s all I’ve got,” and indeed, that is all we’ve got from the trailer. Although A Complete Unknown currently lacks a determined release date, Mangold has teased that it may come out as early as December of this year, so we should expect more news and trailers soon.
