9 Celebrities Who Don't Drink Alcohol

Sobriety isn't always easy, especially in the world of Hollywood. But here are a few stars who have fully committed to sober living.

While the lifestyle of the rich and famous stereotypically includes drinking and partying, some stars try to steer clear. Many celebrities have been very candid about their struggles with sobriety and are trying to destigmatize addiction and sober living. There shouldn't be shame surrounding these conversations. Here are nine celebrities living their truth and have opened up about their new clean lifestyle.

Tom Holland

Tom Holland announced to Entertainment Weekly that he has been sober for over a year. During the interview in which he reflects on this mental health journey, he does not reveal any personal specifics regarding this choice. Since his role in The Crowded Room, the 26-year-old actor has changed his view regarding mental health and sobriety. In this Apple TV+ series based on a 1981 novel, Holland's character, Danny Sullivan, is a reclusive teen who is arrested after a shooting at the Rockefeller Center in 1979. Holland says that this role truly affected him: "I was seeing myself in him, but in my personal life. I remember having a bit of a meltdown at home and thinking, like, 'I'm going to shave my head. I need to shave my head because I need to get rid of this character." Because Holland was so moved by this complex character, he began his journey toward sobriety one year and four months ago as of May 10, 2023. 

Cara Delevingne

At the tail end of last year, Cara Delevingne’s fans expressed concern regarding the model acting out of character in several photos and videos. Although Delevingne claims these stirred up significant shame at the time, she revealed in a recent Vogue interview that in hindsight, "sometimes you need a reality check, so in a way those pictures were something to be grateful for." After checking herself into rehab, the star has now been sober for a few months. Armed with the support of friends and newfound introspection, Delevingne is ready to embark on her new beginning.

Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj announced her sobriety via Twitter in April. The rapper tweeted, "I used to b happy when I was high. Now I'm happy when I'm sober. No judgment to anyone. Be gentle with yourself. 🎀." Motherhood has changed Minaj's perspective on life, and the rapper is going to continue leading a better lifestyle.

Demi Lovato

Demi Lovato has been extremely transparent about their sobriety journey throughout their career. Lovato has struggled with sobriety since 2010, and in 2018, they survived a nearly fatal overdose. Late last year, the singer announced they would be adopting a clean lifestyle fully instead of being California sober. The vocalist has stayed completely sober ever since.

Bella Hadid

At the beginning of the year, Bella Hadid announced she was giving up alcohol for Dry January. It was recently revealed that Hadid had stayed sober for months and quit drinking completely. The model had been candid about her struggle with depression and anxiety and was worried she wouldn't be able to control herself. It seems that Hadid is in a much better place since then.

Travis Barker

Rock drummer Travis Barker started his journey to sobriety eight years ago. After suffering from a traumatic incident, the Blink-182 star pledged to live a clean life. He's the healthiest he's ever been. Along with practicing the drums almost every day, the musician also runs and boxes. 

Jack Harlow

Jack Harlow's career has been going uphill since his debut, and he intends to keep it that way. Harlow revealed he stopped drinking in 2021. For his Rolling Stone cover story, he states, "I'm in my well-oiled-machine era. Because I can see my future right in front of me. And I feel there's so many people counting on me outside of myself." The rapper is doing everything he can to better his career and that includes sobriety.

Drew Barrymore

Drew Barrymore has one of Hollywood's most heartbreaking addiction journeys. From a very young age, the actress struggled with her sobriety. However, she eventually broke the curse as a troubled child star and committed to having a successful career. Barrymore revealed she quit drinking in 2019. Now, she spends her time living her life and healing her inner child.

Kim Kardashian

Even though many wild nights were seen on Keeping Up With the Kardashians throughout the years, Kim Kardashian abstains from alcohol for the most part. Kim has commented on her status toward alcohol throughout the years. According to a Cheatsheet article, her older sister Kourtney is one reason she has an aversion to alcohol. “Kourtney was such a big drinker and my dad was really well aware… They would literally have me hang out just to drive everyone home. I felt this sense of responsibility and I owned it." Last year, Kim also shared a throwback Instagram photo of her visiting Kourtney in college. In the post, she said that she "hated all of the wild parties so much that I stayed home and never wanted to drink or party EVER."
