The actress took to Instagram today to reveal that she underwent a double mastectomy.
Actress Olivia Munn took to Instagram today to reveal that she has been battling breast cancer since February 2023 and underwent a double mastectomy. Munn explained that she and her sister tested negative for the breast cancer gene, BRCA, and then followed the test with a mammogram, which came back clear.
The actress said that she was diagnosed with breast cancer two months later. She credits her OBGYN with wanting to perform an additional test to calculate her Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Score.
"The fact that she did saved my life," said the actress.
The Office Christmas Party star mentioned that due to the age at which she had her child and her familial history of breast cancer, her risk for breast cancer was 37%. After undergoing an MRI, an ultrasound, and a biopsy, she soon discovered she had Luminal B cancer in both breasts and just 30 days later, she had a double mastectomy.
In her post, Munn thanks her long-time beau, John Mulaney, with whom she shares her son, Malcolm. She also thanks all the medical staff who helped her get through this tough time.
The comment section reveals an outpour of support, with actress Kristin Davis writing, "Your experience is so powerful to share! Sending you so much love and strength, so grateful you found out early and can only imagine the emotional roller coaster you have been on."
Kaley Cuoco also took to the comment section to share her words of love. "Thank you for sharing this! Wow," the actress wrote.
