Kate Middleton To Present 2024 Wimbledon Championship Trophy
As a longtime supporter of the legendary tennis tournament, the Princess of Wales has been selected to bestow the honors on the champion player for the second year in a row.
While Wimbledon has long been a star-studded affair, Kate Middleton has come to be a particularly frequent face at the tournament. As the oldest tennis tournament in the world, hosted in England's capital city, royals have attended the matches for decades, but Kate Middleton's uniquely chic appearances at the event have made her an annual figure to watch out for.
For the 2024 tournament, Kensington Palace has confirmed that the Princess of Wales will attend the men's singles final match, in which Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic will face off. In 2023, Middleton presented Alcaraz with the Championship trophy, and tennis fans are abuzz this year, as the two are slated for a rematch. Although she will miss out on the women's championship match between Jasmine Paolini and Barbora Krejcikova, she is expected to hand the winner of the men's singles match the coveted golden award.
Middleton's appearance at Wimbledon will be her second public appearance of the year, following Trooping The Color, which she attended in June 2024. In an update that proceeded her London appearance, Middleton wrote: "I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days. On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well," she continued. "[I] hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet."
Over the years, the Princess of Wales has worn numerous ultra-stylish looks to the tournament, ranging from a now-iconic bubblegum pink midi dress to a timeless, effortlessly elegant polka-dotted skirt. Although each of her looks has skewed towards minimalistic, with classic, slightly wavy hairstyles and natural makeup, fans of the royals look forward to her sophisticated outfits each year.
