Justin Bieber is Keeping his Dreadlocks Despite Criticism
The singer just won't give up his dreads.
Justin Bieber has made some questionable style decisions over the years, the latest of which being dreadlocks. Despite controversy and accusations of cultural appropriation, the singer has been posting several photos to his Instagram over the past few weeks featuring the dreads.
The hairstyle has a long history within Black culture, and has been a source of discrimination in schools and workplaces. This isn't the first time Bieber has worn locs—the singer wore the hairstyle to the 2016 iHeart Radio Music Awards—so it seems he hasn't yet learned his lesson.
"Please go to Google and search why whites shouldn't be wearing dreads, I beg you," exclaimed one person in the comments. "You embarrass me," wrote another. "Appropriation of black culture is not legal," criticized a third.
