Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez Announce Break-Up, End Engagement
The stars officially put an end to their two-year engagement parting as ‘friends.’
After speculation that the couple might be calling it quits, Jennifer Lopez, 51, and Alex Rodriguez, 45, officially announced their split with a joint statement sent out on Thursday.
The pair, engaged since March 2019, called off their engagement leaving an almost five-year relationship behind. In their statement, the A-list couple said they realized they are better off as friends and expressed they look forward to supporting each other on their shared businesses and projects.
Last year, when the pandemic hit in early March, Lopez and Rodriguez were forced to postpone their wedding ceremony due to COVID-19, twice.
Their definitive decision does not come as a shock. For the past year, the pair had struggled with balancing work and keeping a healthy, long-distance relationship. Lopez is currently filming a movie in the Dominican Republic and A-Rod is preparing for baseball season in Miami.
