Florence Pugh Takes to Instagram to Call Out Body Shamers
Florence Pugh is facing criticism for the sheer gown she wore to the Valentino Fall/Winter 2022 Haute Couture show. Here's how the Black Widow star responded to the backlash.
What's Haute Couture week without a little drama? Marvel star Florence Pugh is currently receiving backlash for the risque ensemble she wore in attendance at the Valentino Fall 2022 Haute Couture show in Rome. The actress's dress had her nipples on full display, and commentators online were not happy. On Sunday, in response to the unwarranted comments, Pugh took to Instagram.
"It makes me wonder what happened to you to be so content on being so loudly upset by the size of my boobs and body..? I’m very grateful that I grew up in a household with very strong, powerful, curvy women. We were raised to find power in the creases of our body. To be loud about being comfortable. It has always been my mission in this industry to say ‘fuck it and fuck that’ whenever anyone expects my body to morph into an opinion of what’s hot or sexually attractive."
The Midsommar star was aware of the feedback she may receive, negative or positive. She states, "I wore that dress because I know. If being loudly abusive towards women publicly in 2022 is so easy for you, then the answer is that it is you who doesn’t know. Grow up. Respect people. Respect bodies. Respect all women. Respect humans. Life will get a whole lot easier, I promise. And all because of two cute little nipples…."
This fall, Pugh is scheduled to star alongside pop musician Harry Styles in the film Don't Worry Darling. The film is directed by actress Olivia Wilde and tells the thrilling story of a seemingly perfect suburban town in the 1950s. Prior to this, the actress starred as Yelena in the Marvel film Black Widow with Scarlett Johanson.
