Valentino's Fall/Winter 2022 Haute Couture Collection Rules the Runway in Rome
From celebrity attendees to the garments themselves, L'OFFICIEL breaks down Valentino's Fall/Winter 2022 Haute Couture show in Rome.
Models slowly descended the Spanish Steps in bright colors and billowing garments this evening as Valentino unveiled its Fall/Winter 2022 Haute Couture collection in one of Rome's most famous squares, Piazza di Spagna. As singer Labrinth delivered a chill-inducing performance, including songs, “All For Us,” “Beneath Your Beautiful,” and a cover of “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face,” garments with all sorts of color combinations and adornments appeared.
Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli’s newest collection, “The Beginning” included more than just its striking Valentino pink color that has become associated with the brand. Instead, prominent colors of the collection included red, neon greens, and deep purples, often in combination with one another.
With so many design elements at play, there was one thing the garments had in common: they all brought the drama. From feather detailing on multiple jackets to garments with sparkling silver and champagne tones, to voluminous tulle silhouettes, they all brought the "wow" factor. What appears to be bedazzled fishnets and a type of floral applique also ruled the runway.
A few days ahead of the show, Piccioli shared a sweet sentiment on Instagram. He wrote, "The Beginning. Roma is the place where everything starts. The life, the people, our stories and identities are here. We belong to this place as much as this place belongs to the world and to Valentino.”
Celebrities and big names in fashion were in attendance at the event. Anna Wintour, in an orange and white floral dress with her classic black sunglasses, sat alongside Don’t Worry Darling actress Florence Pugh, who dazzled in a sheer, pink tulle dress. Kate Hudson, Charles Melton, Anne Hathaway, Naomi Campbell, Andrew Garfield, Ariana DeBose, Tommy Dorfman, and Ashley Park were some other notable attendees.
