A Complete Timeline of Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox's Relationship

After meeting on a movie set in March of 2020, Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly (real name: Colson Baker) continuously made headlines for their undeniable chemistry. Fox, who was married to Brian Austin Green for more than a decade, found her "soulmate" in Kelly who sees the prospect of a lifetime with the Jennifer's Body actress. Since they confirmed their relationship in 2020, Megan Fox and MGK have made numerous red carpet appearances together from the VMAs to the iHeartRadio awards. It has also been reported that Kelly has met Fox's three boys Noah, Bodhi, and Journey.

However, almost two years after they announced their engagement, the couple has called their enagement off—though neither party have confirmed if they've taken a step back, or if this is the end of the line.  L'OFFICIEL breaks down the definitive timeline of the pair's budding romance from being coworkers on set to becoming star-crossed lovers.

Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox first met on the set of the indie thriller Midnight In The Switchgrass. However, just after two weeks of filming, the production set was forced to shut down due to the emerging COVID-19 pandemic. According to a source from E! News, the pair had been spending time together after their sudden production shut down and added, "the down time has been good for them...They are intrigued by each other and having a lot of fun."

Shortly after lockdown restrictions have been partially lifted, photos obtained by the Daily Mail showed that Fox and Kelly were seen together in Calabasas, sparking relationship rumors between the "My Ex's Best Friend" singer and Transformers actress, who was still married to Brian Austin Green at the time. Green then posted a cryptic message on Instagram with the caption, "Eventually butterflies get bored sitting on a flower for too long. They start feeling smothered. It’s a great big world and they want to experience it."

Just three days after Kelly and Fox were spotted together, Green confirmed on his …With Brian Austin Green podcast that he and Fox have been separated since December of 2019. Green then commented on Kelly and Fox's relationship saying, "They’re friends at this point, and from what she’s expressed, he’s a really nice, genuine guy, and I trust her judgment."

Shortly after Green announces that he and Fox have been separated for a period of time, Kelly released the music video for "Bloody Valentine" where Fox starred as the singer's imperious lover. 

Just a month after the pair were first spotted in Calabasas, Kelly and Fox were seen holding hands and kissing after a night out at Mr. Furley's Bar in Sherman Oaks, California. Kelly then confirmed the growing relationship rumors with a tweet writing, "'I’m calling you girlfriend, what the f*ck.’ Life imitated art on that one." 

The pair was spotted once again at LAX airport. The couple was set to depart to continue filming Midnight in the Switchgrass after a four-month-long production pause.

Megan and MGK appeared for their first interview as a couple on the Give Them Lala...With Randall podcast. When asked about her first impressions of the singer, Fox said, "I was like, 'Who is going to play this role?' And he was like, 'Oh, we just got Machine Gun Kelly,' and immediately, I was like, 'Uh oh.'"

According to Fox just two days after meeting on set, she felt a connection between them. "I knew right away that he was what I call a twin flame," she said. "Instead of a soul mate, a twin flame is actually where a soul has ascended into a high enough level that it can be split into two different bodies at the same time. So we're actually two halves of the same soul, I think. And I said that to him almost immediately, because I felt it right away."

Despite public discourse around Megan and MGK's relationship, it was reported that the singer has met Fox's children. A source told Us Weekly said, “MGK has met Megan’s kids, but Brian is pretty protective of them.” The source added that “Megan and Brian’s relationship is so up and down. They have been co-parenting in a healthy way as best as they can.” 

Kelly shared a video of the pair singing along to Kelly's "Bloody Romance" with the couple ecstatic to hear the artist's single on the radio for the first time.

Kelly appeared on The Howard Stern Show where the singer spoke about his relationship with Fox, giving fans a glimpse into their whirlwind romance saying he "didn't know what [true love] was until me and her made eye contact... that's when I was like, 'Whoa.'" Kelly also spoke about how falling in love with Fox influenced and inspired the creation of his newest album. "After I made the big chunk of the album [Tickets to My Downfall] I did fall in love for the first time," Kelly elaborated. "That was my first experience with being open to love and stuff like that. I definitely wasn't set up to believe that that's something that could ever exist."

After the release of Kelly's latest album Tickets to My Downfall, the singer released the music video for his song "Drunk Face" professing his love for Fox. The music video features Fox once again and includes a scene where the couple shares a kiss for the camera. 

Marriage rumors reemerged as a source close to Fox spoke to E! News that the couple "plan to get engaged and married" and that they are "very much in love and have a strong and intense relationship...Her divorce is moving along, and they are hashing out custody details." 

With regards to Fox's divorce, another source told E! News in February that Green is attempting to prolong divorce proceedings. "Brian is definitely not making it easy or doing things quickly," the source said. "Megan would like to wrap it up and get it finished as quickly as possible, but Brian is not exactly working with her on that."

As red carpet appearances returned after more than a year-long halt, Kelly and Fox were not afraid to showcase their affection for each other. At the Billboard Music Awards, the pair made their first red carpet appearance as a couple where they touched tongues for the cameras. 

Later that week the couple graced the iHeartRadio awards with coordinated pink and silver ensembles showing PDA on the red carpet. That same week, Kelly tweeted on their one-year anniversary writing, "she said ‘i love you’ one year ago today."

In an interview with Fox 5 New York, Fox shared endearing nicknames she calls MGK from “Cookie,” “Buddha,” and “Booby.”

That same week in a separate interview for the release of her upcoming film Till Death, Fox shared with The Washington Post that she knew MGK was her “soulmate” when they first met in March of 2020, saying, “The first time I looked into his eyes, I was like...‘I know you. I have known you so many times, in so many different forms, in so many different lives.’ She also told the publication that she “wasn’t expecting it’d be like, ‘God, you are my soulmate,’ instantly.”

Fox shared a now-deleted photo on Instagram with the caption, "When I tell you that the table at this air bnb saw some things 🥵," implying that she and Kelly had a wild staycation at an Airbnb they recently rented. Kelly comments on the post saying, "i’m really glad that’s not our table anymore."

Kelly and Fox made a red carpet appearance at the VMAs. In one of Fox's red carpet interviews, the actress shared details on her ensemble of the night chosen by Kelly himself. "He was like, 'You're gonna be naked tonight,'" Fox told Entertainment Tonight. "I was like, 'Whatever you say, daddy!'"

Under a banyan tree (a detail both Kelly and Fox made sure to share with their announcements), the rockstar proposed to the actress with a stunning diamond and emerald engagement ring.

Only a week after attending the 2023 Grammys together, it seems the couple may have broken up. Fox hinted at the possibility of Kelly's cheating on Instagram with the caption, "You can taste the dishonesty/ it's all over your breath," a reference to Beyoncé's 2016 song, "Pray You Catch Me."

Furthering adding to the breakup rumors, Fox unfollowed her fiancé and deleted all photos of him from her Instagram grid. Fox had since then deactivated her account. 

Months after the couple's possible split, Fox is proving she's moving on as she is one of the cover models for Sports Illustrated's iconic swimsuit issue. "Shooting Sports Illustrated Swimsuit is definitely a lot of pressure," she said in the cover interview. "I have a vision in my head that I'm trying to achieve, so we’ll see if it pans out for me."

A few days later, Fox and Kelly leave fans confused again as Kelly is spotted supporting Fox at the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Cover launch party. While the couple did not walk the carpet together, they were spotted hanging out with one another in the wings.

It seemed that all was well between the on-again-off-again couple when Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly were spotted holding hands in London later that month. Fox came to support the launch of Kelly's ring collection, a collaboration with Stephen Webster. 

Though the couple had made a slew of public appearances together (even some PDA-packed ones), an insider source told People that the couple recently had "another big fight," but were still attempting to resolve their issues and salvage their relationship.
