Zayn Releases Single 'Alienated' Ahead of New Album
The singer's fourth studio album, Room Under the Stairs, is set to release on May 17.
It's been an exciting past few months for all the Zayn fans out there, as the singer has been stepping right back into the limelight after a brief hiatus. Now, he's back and better than ever with his long-awaited fourth studio album, Room Under the Stairs, which is set to release on May 17. Just last month, Zayn teased the release of his new album with a silent, short appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Soon after, he released the lead single for Room Under the Stairs, entitled "What I Am." So, if you haven't already, it's time to mark your calendars. We understand that three years without new music from your favorite artist is a lot for any certified fan.
But, we've got some exhilarating news if you can't wait any longer for some new Zayn music. His latest single, entitled "Alienated," was just released earlier this morning. "Alienated" is set to be the fourth track on Room Under the Stairs. The best part? Not only can you stream it on your favorite music platform, but Zayn also posted a video performing his new single on Instagram to get you hyped up for his upcoming album.
If you can't already tell by his acoustic performance of "Alienated," Zayn's new album focuses on a stripped-down acoustic sound that reflects on love and parenthood. In March, Zayn told L'OFFICIEL USA that the album title, Room Under the Stairs, was inspired by a movie he watched as a kid.
"There’s a dark horror movie that I watched when I was growing up called The People Under the Stairs. I probably watched it when I was younger than I should have," said Zayn. "I always thought the idea of being under the stairs had a powerful sentiment to it, and I ended up coincidentally recording most of my record in a shoe cupboard under the stairs. So I was like, 'This is perfect,'" he added.
Don't worry, May 17 is coming sooner than you think! In the meantime, listen to some of the best Zayn songs of all time as you await fresh new songs patiently.
