Taylor Swift is Dropping New Album 'Evermore' at Midnight
Following the surprise release of Folklore, Taylor Swift announces a new unexpected album, titled Evermore, dropping at midnight December 10.
Sharing the news on social media, she says, "I’m elated to tell you that my 9th studio album, and Folklore’s sister record, will be out tonight at midnight eastern. It’s called Evermore. To put it plainly, we just couldn’t stop writing songs. To try and put it more poetically, it feels like we were standing on the edge of the folklorian woods and had a choice: to turn and go back or to travel further into the forest of this music. We chose to wander deeper in. I’ve never done this before. In the past I’ve always treated albums as one-off eras and moved onto planning the next one after an album was released. There was something different with Folklore. In making it, I felt less like I was departing and more like I was returning. I loved the escapism I found in these imaginary/not imaginary tales. I loved the ways you welcomed the dreamscapes and tragedies and epic tales of love lost and found into your lives. So I just kept writing them."
The artist only gave fans a few hours notice before Folklore debuted earlier this summer, and while it was known that she was working on more music, there was no hint that a new album would be ready to release so soon. Along with the launch of Evermore, a new music video for "Willow," the lead track on the album, will also drop at midnight.
For those that couldn't get enough of the folk-pop sound of Folklore, fans can expect the new sister album to deliver more of the same poetic music. The singer again collaborated with Jack Antonoff and The National's Aaron Dessner, and also gave a nod to Justin Vernon and WB, who was recently revealed to be Swift's boyfriend, actor Joe Alwyn. Swift also shared a glimpse at the tracklist of Evermore, which includes collaborations with Haim, The National, and Bon Iver.
Evermore is now available to pre-order.
