After the release of Red, Swift continually began to explore different genres. 1989, which was titled after her birth year, marked Taylor Swift's fifth studio album. Departing further from her country roots, 1989 embraced a full transition into pop music. The album's infectious hooks earned Swift critical acclaim and multiple Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album. Tracks like Shake It Off and Blank Space became quick anthems of the era.

Taylor Swift's sixth studio album, Reputation, is one of her more experimental works. Exploring the electropop and R&B genres, the album was a bold departure from her previous sound. Fueled by themes of fame, media scrutiny, and personal relationships, Reputation presented a darker and edgier side of Swift's persona, almost reminiscent of older tracks like I Knew You Were Trouble (2012). Despite initial mixed reviews, Reputation debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart.

Lover: 2019

Right after finishing the Reputation Stadium Tour, Swift went on to record her seventh studio album, LoverAs the title would suggest, Lover heralded a return to Swift's roots of romanticism and optimisim. Departing from Reputation's darker themes, Lover embraced a more vibrant and hopeful tone, celebrating love in its various forms. With tracks like Me! and Lover, Swift delivered anthems of self-empowerment and unapologetic affection, while also exploring themes of friendship, self-discovery, and societal commentary. The album went on to be the best-selling album of 2019 in the United States.

Folklore: 2020

In the thick of the COVID-19 pandemic, Taylor Swift surprised fans with the release of her eighth studio album, Folklore. With the cancelation of her concert tour for Lover, fans eagerly embraced the unexpected release of the album. Though Swift is primarily known for upbeat pop hits, Folklore marked a departure from her usual sound, delving into a more introspective and indie folk style.

Evermore: 2020

By the end of 2020, Swift had released her ninth studio album, Evermore. This sister album to Folklore was praised for its ethereal storytelling, atmospheric soundscapes, and Swift's evocative lyricism. It won Favorite Pop/Rock Album at the 2021 American Music Awards and was nominated for Album of the Year at the 2022 Grammy Awards.

Fearless (Taylor's Version): 2021

After losing her masters in October 2020, Taylor Swift began re-recording her older albums, the first of which being Fearless. Though it included all the songs from the first release, Fearless (Taylor's Version) also featured six additional (previously unreleased) tracks that didn't make the original cut.

"I've spoken a lot about why I'm remaking my first six albums, but the way I've chosen to do this will hopefully illuminate where I'm coming from," Swift said in the official announcement. "This process has been more fulfilling and emotional than I could've imagined and has made me even more determined to re-record all of my music," Swift added. And as we know today, Swift has already released re-recordings of four out of her first six albums. Only time will tell when the rest will come out!

Red (Taylor's Version): 2021

Then there's the album that perhaps reignited the whole Taylor Swift craze. But it wasn't just that Swift re-recorded her iconic Red album that was originally released in 2012. What really created a lot of buzz was her ten-minute version of All Too Well, accompanied by a short film starring Sadie Sink and Dylan O'Brien.

Midnights: 2022

Just when it seemed as though she was focusing on re-recording her old albums, Taylor Swift released her tenth studio album in October 2022. Entitled Midnights, the album received numerous awards and nominations, including two Grammys. The album also ranked third place on Billboard's 50 Best Albums of 2022 and Rolling Stone's 100 Best Albums of 2022.

Speak Now (Taylor's Version): 2023

Two years after the release of her last re-recorded album, Taylor Swift announced the release of Speak Now (Taylor's Version). In an Instagram post, Swift noted that the tracks in the album were "marked by their brutal honesty, unfiltered diaristic confessions, and wild wistfulness." "I love this album because it tells a tale of growing up, flailing, flying, and crashing ... and living to speak about it," Swift added. Among one of her most beloved albums, the re-recorded version included six additional tracks.

1989 (Taylor's Version): 2023

Not five months after releasing the re-recorded version of Speak Now, Swift released her fourth re-recorded album, 1989 (Taylor's Version) last October 27. Needless to say, fans were excited by the pleasant surprise, most especially with the ongoing Eras Tour.

The Tortured Poets Department: 2024
