Olivia Rodrigo Teases New Music in 2022
After the announcement of her new film Driving Home 2 U, the star has fans excited as she revealed that she's writing her second album.
Olivia Rodrigo is one of pop's biggest stars right now. After breaking the internet with her first single, "Driver's License," she continues to be a force to be reckoned with.
Her debut album Sour topped the charts and took over social media in its wake. Fans were singing along to the heartbreaking lyrics of "Traitor," and screaming along to the upbeat and sassy lyrics of "Good 4 U." Although she may have come to fame from her role as Nini in Disney+'s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, she's doing anything but keeping within the bounds of a Disney Channel kid.
Earlier this year, Rodrigo sold out her first tour, the Sour tour, and announced that she would be releasing a movie about the creation of her debut album on Disney+. Driving Home 2 U follows Rodrigo through the creation of the album and brings fans into a more intimate view of her world.
Now, Rodrigo has just teased that she's already working on a second album. In a recent interview with Billboard, the singer said "I just love writing songs. I’m trying not to put too much pressure on myself. [I want to] just sort of explore and have fun right now." Although she didn't disclose when the album is coming, she did say she's already got a title for the new collection of songs.
After having massive success with Sour, the singer said that the writing experience for this album is very different. "I still write so much of my music in my bedroom though, and I don’t think that experience will ever change. Writing songs will hopefully always be an outlet for me to process my feelings before anything else," she said.
Although there's no set album date yet, the songs of Sour and all of Rodrigo's upcoming projects will happily hold us over.
