Lorde Talks Baring it All for 'Solar Power' Album Cover
The singer's highly anticipated new album is scheduled to release August 20.
Lorde's return to music with her upcoming album Solar Power has been nothing short of glorious. Last week, the singer released the titular single and music video for the record, as well as the album artwork. In tune with the track's summer vibe, the cover features Lorde flashing her own bare bottom as she basks in the sun's glow.
The "Green Light" singer opened up about how the photo—which was not allowed to be shown on network television—came to be. "My friend just took it. It was just me jumping over a friend on the beach," the singer explained in an interview on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. "For those who don't know, it is my butt kinda from below, and I'm in a bikini, so it’s a little hardcore, but it was so joyful to me."
She continued, "It felt innocent and playful and a little bit feral and sexy."
The album is set to release on August 20, and fans are waiting with bated breath to hear more music from the artist who, until last week, had not released music since her 2017 album Melodrama.
The singer added about her semi-nude album art, "You've got to do it while you've got it."
