Lil Nas X Confirms He Dated Music Video Costar

We all remember those hot and heavy scenes from Lil Nas X's "That's What I Want" music video right? Well, it turns out the reason for all the easy chemistry was an off-screen relationship. 

Lil Nas X recently made an appearance on Sirius XM to talk about his debut album drop. The interviewers took this opportunity to sneak in a question about the singer's love life. 

"There are rumors that the lovely actor in the music video is your boyfriend," prompted the radio DJ.

The boyfriend in question is Yai Ariza, a dancer living in Los Angeles. He's shown up in plenty of Nas' previous work. He also locked lips with the singer on the BET Awards stage and licked his neck on Saturday Night Live, causing a frenzy across the internet both times. 

Last August, Nas announced to Variety that he was in love saying, "I’ve found someone special now. I think this is the one. I can’t explain it — it’s just a feeling.”

After the "That's What I Want" video dropped, Ariza took to Instagram to write, "Y’alllll …. You guys don’t know how happy i feel to be part of something so big and special 🦋 this is going to change lives !!!!! Huge Thank you to @lilnasx for making me part of your wonderful vision , you are so special, you deserve it all , love uuu 💕"

On SiriusXM, Nas answered the questioning about Ariza with, "We were dating, and we still are on very good terms, you know. We may date again in the future. I love him, he’s amazing. I wanted to just focus on my music right now."

So it seems that while Ariza and Nas were a wonderful item, the two have gone their separate ways, at least for now. Nas made sure to add that Ariza was "literally the best person [he's] ever dated" and left the door open for the two to get back together at some point, as it seems to be a case of "right person, wrong time." 

"I am still very much in love,” he said, “but I'm trying to manage, you know. If it’s meant, it’ll happen in the future. Life is long.”
