Kanye West Announces 'Donda' Album with Track Star Sha'Carri Richardson
The album premieres Friday, July 23.
After rumors swirled about an album listening party over the weekend, Kanye West finally announced his long-awaited next record Donda in a Beats by Dre ad featuring America's fastest woman, Sha'Carri Richardson. The ad ran in the middle of Game 6 of the NBA Finals which resulted in the Milwaukee Bucks taking home the overall win for the season.
In the clip, Richardson sports Nike running gear as she prepares to hit the track. The song "No Child Left Behind" from the upcoming album plays over her, repeating the phrase, "He's done miracles on me."
Richardson was a fan favorite for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, however, she was been suspended from the team after testing positive for marijuana and will not be competing at the Olympic Games later this month.
As the athlete takes her starting place and begins her sprint in the clip, the phrase "Live Your Truth" appears on the screen before the video concludes with the announcement of West's album listening live stream on Apple Music Thursday, July 22 at 8 p.m. EST.
West also made his return to Instagram this week in promotion of the album. He shared a series of cryptic photos that showcase him posing in a black ski mask while wearing gold chains with the names of his four children he shares with ex-wife Kim Kardashian—North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm.
