Versace Reveals Channing Tatum as Its Newest Fragrance Star

The new face of Versace's most iconic fragrance, Eros, is poised to launch the cologne into a fresh era.

Eros, Versace’s signature masculine fragrance family, is nothing if not iconic. The scent is known to be utterly invigorating due to a mixture of notes like cool, crisp mint leaves, tangy Italian Lemon, warm ambroxan, and vanilla. Its exhilarating opening smell is followed by the rich and lasting warmth of its base notes. Since 2012, the fragrance has called the body of Brian Shimansky home. The New-Jersey-born model ingratiated Eros into the fashion world as a recognizable masculine scent through campaigns that depicted him as a Greek godlike character, showcasing bold, chiseled features. 

Now, it’s time for a new era in the narrative of Versace Eros, one spearheaded by Channing Tatum, the multifaceted actor who starred in legendary flicks like “21 Jump Street” and “Magic Mike.” Born and raised in Alabama, Tatum comes from more rural roots than his predecessor, but is no less charming and confident. The 44-year-old was described by Donatella Versace herself as “one of the kindest and most charming men” that she had ever met and “the perfect Versace man.” Of course, what it means to be the “perfect Versace man” is subject to change, and that can already be felt in the tone of early promotional content. Less of the fragrance’s blunt sensuality seems present, ditched for a more sophisticated feel, propelling it into modern times. With more news slated to come soon on the fragrance, all that’s left to do is sit back and wait for the magic to happen. 

For Tatum, the opportunity to collaborate on the fragrance with such a remarkable brand is a dream come true. “Versace was the brand I always wanted to wrok with but never did, so this campaign feels extra special and personal to me…to be part of the legacy is a real privilege,” Tatum said in a release. The announcement was made alongside a teaser image of Tatum in custom versace, looking sleek in an all black suit jacket and relaxed dress trousers. The photograph exudes his pride in the collaboration and preparedness for the campaign, which will be fully revealed on August 6.
