HBO's latest hit show The White Lotus is officially returning for a second season. In only five episodes, the Hawaiian resort drama laced with dry humor is already the top TV series on HBO Max. In anticipation of this Sunday's finale, HBO has announced that the limited series has been renewed for Season 2. According to the company, the next season will not take place in Hawaii and instead "follows a different group of vacationers as they jet to another White Lotus property and settle in temporarily amongst its inhabitants.”
The series creator Mike White has previously spoken in interviews about his vision for continuing seasons of the show. “We have had discussions, but it remains unresolved,” White told TVLine, explaining that the show would follow more of an anthology-style set-up, meaning that there would be a new cast. “It would have to be a different hotel, like, say, The White Lotus: San Tropez or something.”
However, he didn't rule out the possibility of having some of the original cast return. "I don’t think you can credibly have [all the Season 1 guests] on the same vacation again,” explained White. “But maybe it could be a Marvel universe type thing, where some of them would come back.”
