This 'The Devil Wears Prada' Scene Would Have Completely Changed the Film
A deleted scene from The Devil Wears Prada would have completely changed the plot if added to the film.
The Devil Wears Prada is, without a doubt, one of the biggest Hollywood fashion films. Released in 2006, the movie, which stars Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, focuses on the busy lives of fashion magazine employees in New York City. Inspired by Vogue's Anna Wintour, Miranda Priestly (Streep) is a cold and heartless boss, causing Andrea (Hathaway) to reevaluate her career choices. However, what many don't know is that, like most movies, there are deleted scenes that would actually change the plot that we already know—and love—from beginning to end.
Thanks to a fan, the deleted scene from the movie started circulating online, throwing the entire premise of the movie into the air. In it, the classic ending of the film is totally thrown out, as it shows vulnerable Miranda recognizing and thanking Andrea and Emily for helping to avoid an awkward moment with her husband and guests at an important party.
When her husband appears, clearly drunk and about to create an unpleasant scene, Miranda is talking to her boss. Andy quickly intervenes and makes the awkward moment a little less awkward. As Miranda leads her drunken husband away, she mutters a silent "thank you" to Andy and Emily (Emily Blunt) for their help.
The scene, if placed in the film, would change both the plot and characterizations, as Miranda never shows gratitude. On the contrary, she only appears more closed and inaccessible, with her employees, friends, and even family members.
