Season 3 Of 'The Handmaid's Tale' Is On Its Way
Brace yourselves for a summer return to Gilead with season three of the Hulu original series, The Handmaid’s Tale. The Bruce Miller-directed drama is all set to premiere this coming June, confirmed by Hulu during the recent Television Critic's Association gathering.
The series, becoming the first streaming series to receive the Golden Globe Award for 'Best Television Series - Drama' unfolds in a near future world where fertility rates have dramatically declined due to a rapid spread of sexually transmitted diseases and environmental pollution. In the midst of this chaos, a totalitarian regime rises as the government of Gilead assumes the power of the land and its peoples. In this new world, people are famished for power, obsess over money and property, and women are subjected to a brutal degree.
The season two finale of the drama left viewers in anticipating suspense with an unimaginable cliffhanger when June, played by Elisabeth Moss, chose to remain in Gilead for the sake of her daughter, Hannah. Although it was just as easy to escape, June stayed back with her daughter and is now forced to confront the country’s authorities.
The upcoming third season is to include thirteen thrilling episodes that revolve around June’s empowering subversion of the country’s regime. Central to the story will be her fight to rise up against all odds against a power system that commands ultimate submission and reticence. She resists and rebels against the dystopian land of Gilead that she finds herself trapped under. The young mother embarks on a startlingly terrifying journey of sacrifice and struggle to the very core of Gilead that is filled with betrayals, suffering, and overwhelming heartache. The heroine will combine the skills and strength she has mustered up from her experiences in the past three years, representing a generation that contradicts authority and reacts against wrongdoing.
Along with Elizabeth Moss, Christopher Meloni and Elizabeth Reaser will appear as guest stars with Meloni playing a fierce commander named Commander Winslow and Reaser playing his wife. More to look forward to includes Emily and baby Nicole’s freedom from the dystopian universe as well as the startling discovery that Aunt Lydia, played by Ann Dowd, is indeed alive. We can't wait to watch!
