Rami Malek has done us the honor of gracing our screens for about a decade now, and over that time has accumulated an extensive and diverse resume. From his Emmy and two-time SAG Award-winning performance in the hit series Mr. Robot to his Oscar for his portrayal of Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody to his most recent venture alongside Daniel Craig in No Time to Die, Malek continues to impress with each and every role. Malek also made history as the first actor with Egyptian heritage to win the Oscar for Best Male Actor and was also named one of Time’s Most Influential People. In honor of the actor’s 42nd birthday, let’s look back at his most iconic roles.

'Night at the Museum'

Directed by Shawn Levy and starring Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, and Robin Williams, this movie is a classic crowd-pleaser. The first movie of this trilogy was Malek’s feature film debut as Pharaoh Ahkmenrah, and he went on to play in each of the trilogy’s sequels.

'The Master'

Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and co-starring Joaquin Phoenix as Freddie Quell, this psychological drama tells the story of World War II veteran, Freddie, who is struggling with his readjustment to civilian life after returning home from the war. Freddie connects with a religious group named “The Cause” of which Malek is a part and becomes entrenched in the group and finds comfort in its leader.

'Mr. Robot'

In USA’s hit series Mr. Robot, Malek stars as the main character Elliot Anderson. The thriller follows Elliot, a cyber-security engineer and hacker, as he is recruited by a mysterious underground hacking organization led by Mr. Robot.

'Papillon'

This biographical drama directed by Michael Noer is based on the story of French prisoner Henri Charrière Hunnam, nicknamed "The Butterfly." The film focuses on Hunnam and fellow prisoner Louis Dega, played by Malek, as they team up and successfully escape Devil’s Island prison.

'Bohemian Rhapsody'

Directed by Bryan Singer, Bohemian Rhapsody focuses on the life of Freddie Mercury, played by Malek, as well as the founding and success of the British band Queen. The film won a Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture, and Malek was awarded the Oscar for Best Male Actor.
