Kristen Bell and Adam Brody Reunite for New Netflix Series ‘Nobody Wants This'
An agnostic sex podcaster and a rabbi walk into a bar...
The synopsis sounds like the beginning of a bad joke, but Netflix has much more in store for Nobody Wants This, an upcoming rom-com series starring none other than Kristen Bell and Adam Brody.
A rabbi and a sex podcaster fall in love? Not that simple. Nobody Wants This follows what seems to be two very chaotic individuals with very different lives — and religions. Joanne, an agnostic podcaster, finds herself in a constant cycle of bad relationships and shares her stories on her podcast that she shares with her sister. (The podcast seems to resemble popular podcasts in real life, like the famous "Call Her Daddy.") In contrast, her love interest, Noah, is a Jewish rabbi and has a mother who wants him to stay that way.
With all odds stacked against the pair, the two face life head-on as they navigate challenges that come their way, whether it be as scary as a nasty future mother-in-law or as simple as a difference in opinion.
The two lovers, played by Kristen Bell and Adam Brody, are expected to bring in a large audience to tune in to the series, as both have honorable filmographies to show off.
Bell is no stranger to comedy and seems to be the perfect fit for this role. Most famously known for her work in The Good Place and Bad Moms, Bell's comedic timing already shines through in just a three-minute trailer.
As for Brody, his filmography is full of a variety of genres and roles, including his iconic character as the lovable, quick-witted Seth Cohen on the hit TV series The O.C. His portrayal of the quirky, comic book-loving teenager made him a pop culture icon in the early 2000s. Brody has since appeared in a variety of film and television projects, showcasing his range in both comedic and dramatic roles.
Nobody Wants This won't be the first time the two paired up to make audiences everywhere laugh. In the 2014 film The Lifeguard, Bell plays the lead role of Leigh, a former high school valedictorian who returns to her hometown and takes a job as a lifeguard, while Brody plays her ex-boyfriend, Todd.
The two are teaming up again to play very different characters, who still seem to fall in love despite all odds and differences.
