Kristen Stewart Felt 'Psychic Connections' to Princess Diana During 'Spencer' Filming
The Spencer actress relayed haunting stories during the shooting of Pablo Larrain's film.
Kristen Stewart took on the role of Princess Diana in Pablo Larrain's Spencer this year and told the LA Times that she felt "psychic connections" with Lady Di throughout the filming.
The 31-year-old actress revealed that during the filming of the movie, she had "scary spiritual feelings," as if the princess was blessing her. She also clarified that the experience would not have been a paranormal encounter with Lady Di. "There were times when my body and my mind forgot that she was dead," said Stewart. "And suddenly I was struck by an image of what happened. I remembered who she left behind and I was impressed with this renewed emotion."
For Stewart, even if it was all just a fantasy, it was as if she had been approved by Lady Di. “It's scary to tell the story of someone who is no longer alive and who has already been invaded so much. I never wanted it to look like we were invading anything, just adding to versions of something wonderful.”
Constantly remembering the death of Prince William and Prince Harry's mother was quite difficult for the actress. “I just couldn't accept it because I was struggling to keep her alive every day."
"It was constantly tearing me apart, and that already felt pretty spiritual…" Stewart declared. "There were times when it felt like she was trying to get through me. It was weird. It's amazing."
Spencer, written by Steven Knight, tells the last years of the marriage between Diana and Prince Charles. Lady Di died at age 36, in 1997, in a controversial car accident in Paris.
