See Kristen Stewart as Princess Diana in 'Spencer' Trailer
The Twilight actress was cast to play the People's Princess in the latest royal biopic.
The moment royal fans have been anxiously waiting has finally arrived: the trailer for Spencer, a film that will tell a part of Princess Diana's little-known story. Although many controversies have been raised over the choice, Kristen Stewart was cast for the lead role.
The feature film will tell the story of a very critical weekend in the princess's life in the early 1990s when she decided that her marriage to Prince Charles was no longer working out.
The film is directed by Pablo Larraín, who already has experience with this type of plot. He is best known for his work on the critically acclaimed 2016 film biography of Jackie Kennedy, Jackie, starring Natalie Portman. The director explained that Stewart was cast in the lead role of Diana thanks to her ability to be equally fragile and strong, but all with an air of mystery.
With a preview confirmed during the Venice Film Festival, which runs from September 1 to 11, Spencer hits theaters on November 5.
