How Kristen Stewart is Honoring Princess Diana's Memory
Kristen Stewart plays the late princess in director Pablo Larraín's new film Spencer.
Since it was announced that Kristen Stewart would play Diana Spencer in Pablo Larraín's new film Spencer, many professionals and fans have criticized the production for choosing an American actress for the role. The star has been marked by some of her less prestigious film roles, such as the Twilight saga, however, as images and clips of her performance began surfacing, many people were impressed by the characterization and Stewart's commitment to the role.
Recently, the film held its premiere during the 78th Venice Film Festival garnering good reviews. Stewart even received a four-minute standing ovation and many are already predicting a possible 2022 Oscar nomination. The actress underwent vocal training to improve Diana's way of speaking and accent, in addition to studying her movements. In addition, it seems that the extensive research on the Princess of the People inspired the Clouds of Sils Maria star to honor the royal's legacy in another way by donating to two of her favorite charities.
Stewart reportedly donated to the National AIDS Trust and Mines Advisory Group. The late princess was a patron of these institutions until her death in 1997. In 1987, she became known worldwide for her focus on people with HIV and helped to create the first unit dedicated to the disease in the UK.
Spencer is slated to hit theaters worldwide in November 2021.
