Everything We Know About Hulu's 'Conversations With Friends'
The highly anticiptaed Sally Rooney adaptation is set to release this May.
Normal People, the mini-series based on Sally Rooney's 2018 book of the same title, took then-unknown actors Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones and skyrocketed them to new heights of fame. It is likely that Conversations with Friends will have the same effect. Based on the 2017 novel by Sally Rooney, this highly anticipated 12 part mini-series will release on Hulu, using the same creative team as Normal People.
The Cast
Nick is to be played by Joe Alwyn (Mary Queen of Scots, The Favourite), Melissa will be played by Jemima Kirke (Girls and Sex Education), Bobbi is to be played by Sasha Lane (American Honey, The Miseducation of Cameron Post), and Frances will be played by newcomer Alison Oliver (a graduate of Dublin's Lir Academy, Mescal's alma mater).
Oscar-nominated director Lenny Abrahamson, who directed part of the Normal People series, will return to direct multiple episodes for Conversations With Friends. The series will be filmed mainly in the UK, beginning with Belfast and London before heading to other international locations.

"Conversations with Friends follows Frances, a 21-year-old college student, as she navigates a series of relationships that force her to confront her own vulnerabilities for the first time. Frances is observant, cerebral, and sharp. Her ex-girlfriend, now best friend, Bobbi is self-assured, outspoken, and compelling. Though they broke up three years ago, Frances and Bobbi are virtually inseparable and perform spoken word poetry together in Dublin. It’s at one of their shows that they meet Melissa, an older writer, who is fascinated by the pair. Bobbi and Frances start to spend time with Melissa and her husband, Nick, a handsome but reserved actor. While Melissa and Bobbi flirt with each other openly, Nick and Frances embark on an intense secret affair that is surprising to them both. Soon the affair begins to test the bond between Frances and Bobbi, forcing Frances to reconsider her sense of self, and the friendship she holds so dear."

In February of 2022, the show released a first look and video teaser for the series, allowing fans to get a glimpse inside the world before it hits TV screens.

On April 12, Hulu released the highly anticipated, long awaited official full-length trailer for the upcoming series, along with a new Phoebe Bridgers song made for the show.
