What to Expect from the New Dune Series

The series is set more than 10,000 years before Paul Atreides’ rise. Dune: Prophecy dives into the origins of the Bene Gesserit, the shadowy sisterhood that has long shaped the fictional world's fate. Following sisters Valya and Tula Harkonnen, portrayed by Emily Watson and Olivia Williams, respectively, the series offers a high-stakes exploration of their journey to establish one of the universe’s most powerful institutions.

For those who may not have had the chance to see Dune and Dune: Part Two, there is still much to appreciate about the TV series. While it’s recommended to have some familiarity with the expansive Dune universe to fully appreciate its intricate lore, showrunner Alison Schapker assured viewers that Dune: Prophecy has been crafted to be understood by all. It serves as both an introduction and a deep dive, offering a standalone narrative that newcomers can follow, as well as enriching the experience for seasoned fans. Whether you're a lifelong fan or stepping into Arrakis for the first time, Dune: Prophecy has something for everyone.

With the premiere of Dune: Prophecy, one of science fiction’s most iconic sagas continues, with its compelling narrative and stunning world-building. Six episodes total are expected to air in the debut season.
