6 Movies You've Probably Never Seen
And not just because you don't want to watch them. But because no one will ever be able to watch them.
Just because actors and actresses come together on set, take the time to learn the lines, and deliver poignant scenes, doesn't mean that the film will eventually be seen. The recent shelving of Batgirl—which had a $90 milion budget—should be proof enough. But no matter how jarring or shocking it is to hear this news, it's actually not a rare occurence. Throughout history, there have been numerous films that have gone unreleased, and all for different reasons.
L'OFFICIEL breaks down six of these films down below.
Even though the film had a $90 million budget and even though the film was already in post- production, Warner Bros. Pictures recently decided that the movie would be shelved. Leslie Grace, who took on the role of Batgirl, as well as the directors of the film, have all taken to social media to comment on the disappointing news.
Leonardo DiCaprio as James Dean? Say no more. Unfortunately, DiCaprio just looked "too young" to play the role of the Hollywood star, director Michael Mann told People. "From one angle, he totally had it with him," said Mann. "I mean, it's brilliance. He would turn his face in one direction and we see a vision of James Dean, and then he'd turn his face another direction and it's, 'No, that's a young kid.' I found the absolutely perfect act of the play, in about three years from that."
Back in 2018, House of Cards actor Kevin Spacey was hit with multiple sexual assault allegations. Due to the nature of the allegations, Netflix, who was producing the movie, cut ties with the actor. Because of this, the film, a biopic about writer Gore Vidal, was axed.
While fans got to see Tobey Maguire and Leonardo DiCaprio together in This Boy's Life and The Great Gatsby, there's another movie featuring these two actors that you probably haven't seen. The black-and-white film—which revolves around a group of teenagers meeting at a diner every week—is not allowed to be shown in the United States and Canada.
Calling all Siena Miller fans: the 2010 film starring the actress never made it onto the big screen. And Miller herself doesn't even really know why the film, based on Oz magazine in London, wasn't released. "I’m not sure whatever happened with that. I don’t think it’s… I don’t think we’ll see it at this point. I never really heard what happened. I did see a rough cut of it and it was a pretty beautiful film, but there was some legal something or other. I don’t know," she said.
This 2017 film, starring celebrities like Chloë Grace Moretz and Helen Hunt was given the boot after multiple people came forward with sexual assault allegations against writer and director Louis C.K.
